Bills Passed
One of the Legislature’s most effective new members, Phil sponsored several new laws to protect children, preserve our natural resources and support our veterans. Here is a short list of bills passed that Phil sponsored:
• A law to reduce the risk of shaken baby syndrome in young children up to age 5
• Nation-leading legislation to remove toxic chemicals from children’s products
• A new law making it easier for local officials and lakeside homeowners to improve lake water quality
• A bill to repair and improve Minnesota Zoo exhibits
• A new law to reduce solid waste reporting costs for county governments
• Legislation declaring June 13th Honoring All Vietnam Era Veterans Day in Minnesota

Other Legislative Accomplishments:
• As vice-chair of the House Local Government Division, Phil worked to enact mandate relief for counties, cities and townships to reduce costs, improve efficiencies and eliminate unnecessary reports
• Continued Minnesota’s strong support for veterans and active duty military with funding for Minnesota Veterans Homes, county veterans service programs, and a new $3 million enlistment incentive program
